How to get to Heathrow airport
Heathrow airport is 15 miles to the west of central London.Terminals 1, 2 and 3 are located next to each other at the centre of Heathrow, whilst Terminal 4 is located to the south of the airport and has a separate entrance.
By Car
Heathrow is situated close to two motorways - the M4 and the M25.
From M40 : Join M25 at junction 16. From M25, leave motorway at junction 15 to join M4 and leave M4 at junction sign posted London Heathrow Airport, Terminals 1,2 & 3.
From M4: Follow directions as above for M4.
Drop off & pick up
If you intending to drop off or collect passengers you will need to go to the signposted area Set Down & Pick Up point. For security reasons private cars may not stop on the terminal forecourt roads for any purpose other than to drop off or pick up passengers.
Picking up passengers
Waiting is not permitted on the airport forecourts at any time. If you are meeting someone from a flight you should use the short stay car parks.
Unattended vehicles
For security reasons vehicles should not be left unattended at any time.
Any vehicle left unattended outside a terminal will be swiftly removed by the police. A charge of £105.00 is made for its recovery and a £40.00 parking ticket will also be given. If the vehicle is not collected on the day it is removed there will be a further charge of £12.00 for each day's storage.
Petrol Stations
There are three petrol stations close to Heathrow Airport which are open 24 hours a day, seven days a week:
1. A BP station is located in the centre of the airport close to Terminals 1, 2 and 3.
2. An Esso station is located on the Southern Perimeter Road between Terminal 4 and the M25. It also has an automatic car wash.
3. A BP station is located at Hatton Cross, Great West Road (A30). This station has LPG facilities

By Train/Railair Coach Link
Heathrow doesn't have its own railway station but is connected to the national and local rail network by four Railair coach/ bus services providing express services between four stations: Woking, Reading, Watford and Feltham. You can purchase a combined rail and coach ticket from most stations.
Woking
Trains operate from Woking station to the south of England. Some of the towns you can reach from Woking are: Southampton, Portsmouth, Winchester, Bournemouth, Guildford and Basingstoke.
At Heathrow - the Railair coaches pick up at the Arrivals level of Terminals 1,3 and 4; at Departures level for Terminal 2. Coaches set down passengers at Departures level of each terminal.
At Woking - the Railair coaches stop directly outside the Woking station. There is also a Railair lounge where you can wait.
Woking Railair Coaches leave at half-hourly intervals throughout most of the day to/from all four terminals. Customers travelling to Heathrow should exit on platform 5 and the coach leaves from outside the station. Tickets must be purchased before boarding. Customers travelling from Heathrow can purchase combined coach and rail tickets from the Speedlink lounges at the airport. On arrival at Woking customers should allow at least 10 minutes to transfer to your train after the arrival of the coach at the station.
Woking Railair coaches operate every 30 minutes and take just 40 minutes. The single fare is £8.00, a day return is £10.00 and a period return is £16.00.
Reading
Frequent trains operate from Reading to and from the west and south west of England and to South Wales. The Reading Railair is a frequent coach service that operates between Reading rail station and all four Heathrow terminals.
At Heathrow - the Railair coaches pick up at the arrivals level of Terminals 1, 3 and 4; at departures level for Terminal 2. Passengers are set down at departures level of each terminal.
At Reading - the Railair coaches stop directly outside Reading Station - just follow the signs to the Railair lounge and/or Heathrow Railair Link. The lounge is at the bottom of the station concourse. Tickets need to be purchased before travel at the Railair Lounge.
Reading Railair Coaches leave at half hourly intervals throughout most of the day to/from all four terminals. Customers travelling to Heathrow should report to the RailAir Lounge at Reading station at least 15 minutes before departure of the coach. Tickets must be purchased before boarding. Customers travelling from Heathrow can purchase combined coach and rail tickets from the coach departure area in Terminal 1. A wide section of other tickets, reservations and information on Rail services is also available. On arrival at Reading customers should allow at least 15 minutes to transfer to your train after arrival of the coach at the station.
Express coaches operate daily every 20 minutes and the journey takes 40 minutes to Terminal 1 (1 hour to Terminal 4). The single fare is £9.50 and a day return is £11.00, a saver return fare (valid for 1 month) is £17.00.
Watford Junction
From Watford Junction there are trains to Northampton, Milton Keynes, Birmingham, Liverpool and Manchester.
At Heathrow - the coaches pick up from the Arrivals level of Terminals 1, 3 and 4; at Departures level for Terminal 2 and set down passengers at Departures level of each terminal.
At Watford Junction - the coach departs from the train station.
Watford Railair Coaches leave at regular intervals throughout the day to/from all four terminals. Customers travelling to Heathrow should proceed from the platform to the station exit using the underpass. The coach leaves from the bus departure area immediately left of the station front. Customers travelling from Heathrow can purchase combined coach and rail tickets from the Speedlink lounges at the airport. Customers should allow at least 10 minutes to transfer between train and coach or vice versa at Watford.
The Watford Railair operates ½ hourly from 05:30 to 22:35 from Heathrow and 06:55 to 23:35 hours from Watford Junction seven days a week. The journey takes about 40 minutes to Terminal 1 (1 hour 5 minutes to Terminal 4). A single ticket costs £4.00 and a return is £6.00

Underground
London Underground's Piccadilly Line provides you with a fast and cost-effective option for getting to the airport from the centre of London. Two stations both in Zone 6 serve all four terminals (one for Terminal 4, the other for Terminals 1, 2 and 3), journey time is under an hour and you shouldn't have to wait longer than ten minutes for a train - even off-peak. If you purchase a travelcard this will cover you for trains, tubes and buses. Tickets are available at the London Underground stations. Most Underground stations have ticket machines. The underground is linked to the airport terminals via walkways. Please allow at least five minutes to reach Terminals 1, 2 & 3.
Train Times
The first train to central London leaves Heathrow Terminal 4 at 05:04 (05:47 on Sundays) and the last train leaves Terminal 4 at 23:33 (23:17 on Sundays).
The first train from central London arrives at Heathrow Terminal 4 at 06:29 (07:49 on Sundays) and the last train leaves at 00:06 (23:36 on Sundays).

By Coach or Bus
Heathrow Airport has one of the busiest coach stations in the UK. There are frequent services connecting Heathrow with more than 500 local and national destinations. There are various coach operators and National Express is the largest.
Some of the towns with direct services from Heathrow are Birmingham, Bristol, Oxford, Cambridge and Glasgow.
Most coaches pick up and set down passengers at the central bus station (CBS), which is located close to Terminals 1, 2 and 3 however, some services stop outside the terminals. Please check with the operator for exact information
National Express has taken it's Flightlink, Jetlink and Speedlink coaches running between Heathrow and Gatwick and created National Express Airport, giving you a better service with many more coaches operating between the airports.
The National Express 700 runs every 15 - 20 minutes from outside Terminals 1, 3 and 4. It takes approximately 70 minutes to Gatwick's North and South Terminals and the cost is £17.00 for an adult and £12.00 for a child each way. After 12:00 the service operates every 30 minutes until 22:30. Tickets can be purchased at the Bus and Coach Information desk located in Terminals 1, 3 and 4 or on the bus, subject to availability. The coaches pick up at arrivals level of Terminals 1, 3 and 4 and set down at departures level. For Terminal 2, coaches pick up and set down at departures level.
National Express coaches (707/ 717/ 727/ 797) operate ½ hourly to Gatwick and the journey takes approximately 70 minutes. Coaches run from the central bus station at Heathrow for Terminals 1, 2 and 3 and from outside Terminal 4 arrivals. They set down outside Gatwick North and South Terminals. Adult fares are £14.00 single and £20.00 return and child fares are £7.00 single and £10.00 return. Tickets can be purchased from the Travel Centre at the central bus station or from the Bus and Coach Information Desk on the forecourt of Terminal 4 arrivals.
The average journey time between Heathrow and Gatwick is approximately 80 minutes depending on traffic and time of day. Journeys may take longer at peak traffic times.

There is also a frequent 'Airbus' service, the A5 from Victoria coach station, London. The first service leaves London at 06.35 and the last being 23.25. During the day there is an hourly service departing Victoria at 25 minutes past the hour. Journey time to Gatwick is approx. 90 minutes. The A5 service connects to both the North & South terminals. By Taxi
London licensed taxis (Black Cabs) are available from outside each terminal for travel within the London area. To ensure there are adequate taxis to meet demand, a computer system is used to control the flow of vehicles to the forecourts but there is generally never a shortage of taxis at Heathrow.
The approximate cost from Heathrow to central London is £45.00-£50.00, with an average journey time of one hour. Journeys inside London are priced using the taxi meter. Journeys to the Borough of Spelthorne are charged at a maximum of £25.00. The fare for all other journeys outside of London should be agreed between the driver and the passenger prior to the journey commencing. Approximate fares are indicated at the taxi stands on the forecourts.
